panki also called the pashmina shawl is weaved in the kumaon, Garhwal and the upper ranges of uttar pradesh.
An, I thought Pashmina was specific to Kashmir. Is Pankhi the same?
hello vinod, pashmina is the name of the goat who sheds its hair which is spun into a yarn . they are often found in the higher altitudes of the himalayas. pankhi = shawl in the dialect ( i don’t know )spoken in those regions of kumaon, garhwal and surrounding regions..
so simple and beautiful. inspiring as ever.
